Multi-disciplinary Evaluations of children and adolescents with I/DD, behavioral health and complex needs utilizing a multi-disciplinary assessment team to conduct comprehensive evaluations of children and adolescents with I/DD and mental health issues by evaluating biological, psychological, social and environmental needs and how these factors impact the child and family’s strengths, skills, interests and needs.

Disciplines participating in the evaluation team led by Duke Health include psychology, psychiatry, social work, pediatrics, and neurology. Reasons for referral include diagnostic clarification; recommendations for medications; individualized treatment recommendations; I/DD clinical support to avoid disrupting residential placement.

Following the evaluation, the multi-disciplinary team develops a comprehensive report with recommendations that can be utilized by NC START teams, LME MCOs, medical providers, and LTSS providers.
